In all 405 adult participants completed a 46-item questionnaire in which they rated to what extent they thought various statements/facts about memory were True or False. A large number of these myths were rated as True (Definitely or Partly). Of the nine myths, over 25% admitted that they did not know the answer. There were few significant demographic correlates of the total correct score (determined by rating the myth as False). Implications of layperson ignorance about different aspects of memory are discussed, and implications are considered. Limitations of this kind of myth study are noted UR - https://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation?paperid=136933 ER -
